Searching the Scriptures with Deacon Matthew 5-28-24
Turn to Jeremiah 14:6-10
Jeremiah 14:6-10
King James Version
6 And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
7 O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
8 O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
9 Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, O Lord, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
10 Thus saith the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the Lord doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
As we continue from last lesson the animals were smelling the hot air like a dragon would under normal circumstances, but in hot places like Death Valley, Egypt, the Sahara desert, or on the equator where temperature be 50-60 degrees Centigrade or 122-140 F for a everyday with high humidity you could not even breathe and your eyes would burn and you would not have grass to feed your livestock or your animals for transportation.
The people realized their sins and backsliding and started to confess to God to reconcile back to the God of Heaven instead of following their old ways in pagan worship.
They were seeking a Savior, which later became Jesus Christ about 600 years later for the Jews first and later to the Gentiles through Peter, John, and the apostle Paul. They have to believe in faith that God will hear their repenting heart and decide to accept it or reject it.
Through Jesus Christ, today we can get born again by hearing a sermon from a Bible believing preacher in a church service and admit you are a sinner, believe in the birth death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, and confess your sins and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
People think that works will get them to Heaven, but they are wrong and today even a third or fourth grade student can understand the steps of getting born again and I mentioned the steps above.
Like the parable in Matthew 13 the seed can blossom from thirty fold to hundred fold if you share your salvation experience with others like the apostle Paul. Sadly, the majority of the world will seek the wrong way and never be forgiven because of their sins of the past are impossible to be forgiven but remember Matthew 19:26 says anything is possible with God and Jesus Christ and come to Him today before it is too late.
