Searching the Scriptures with Deacon Matthew 5-21-24
Turn to Jeremiah 14:1-5
Jeremiah 14:1-5
King James Version
14 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
2 Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
5 Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
Jeremiah 14 begins with the Lord comes during a dearth. We call a dearth a drought when we lack precipitation, but this refers to famine, when we lack food to feed people.
Judah is mourning and the gates are turning from white to the color of black and people are crying to God for help in the land.
However, this is the consequences for not serving the Lord correctly, and sadly most of the people are suffering from the lack of the truth or a famine of the truth of God’s word and in the tribulation times the lost will be without the word of God as the Antichrist will use the false prophet or I believe the Pope like in the Catholic church and the worship of the beast and your fate will be sealed when you take his mark in your wrist or forehead. You will be cast into Hell after the white throne judgment in Revelation 20:11-15. They will deceive you to believe in lies and use deceit to cause you to bow and worship the Beast.
Like the people looking for water to their cattle and themselves in verse 3 and due to disobeying God sometimes ends with death and if you don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, you need to turn to Him and accept you are lost and a sinner as Isaiah 64 says you are like as a filthy rag when we are lost and believe the birth, death, and resurrection from the dead of our Savior and confess verbally aloud that you are lost and a sinner and believe what the Lord did and confess your sins to God, then finally you will be a child of God and granted Heaven for all eternity.
In verse 4 there are places with dry ground due to no rain and they cover themselves with dust to admit to be full of shame due to humbly admitting that they need help from God and not from pagan worship like they were Many people and animals died in the famine, but if you are in the Lamb’s Book of Life like I did thirty-one years ago when I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you will be spiritually filled with bread, water, have shelter to go to rest in for all eternity.
