Searching the Scriptures with Deacon Matthew 3-19-2024
Turn to Jeremiah 12:1-4
Jeremiah 12:1-4
King James Version
12 Righteous art thou, O Lord, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? Wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.
3 But thou, O Lord, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? The beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end
Chapter 12 begins with Jeremiah with praising God for His righteousness while asking God about His judgements and asks about the prospering of the wicked. The wicked are happy while they are treading treacherously, while being planted they are growing and producing fruit and was edible. Jeremiah knows that God is know and sees everything, while his heart is seeing the wicked are slaughtering of the sheep. The people of the land are in mourning and the herbs of the wicke, the beasts are consumed and God would see the last end of the wicked because they will one day will be cast into Hell.
Study Jeremiah 12:5-13 for Thursday.
