Good Morning Devotional With Dr. Diana Brevan 06-17-2024

Good Morning!2 Timothy 1;1-5You should also know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that.Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.The "act" or appearance of being religious includes going to church, knowing Christian doctrine, using Christian clichés, and following Christian traditions.  Such practices can make a person look good, but if their inner attitudes of belief, love and worship are lacking, the outer appearance is meaningless.  Jesus said it twice in Matthew, "I want you to be merciful; I don't want your sacrifices."  In other words, God does not want our outward actions unless our heart is turned toward Him and we are living His Word, His way. Those who "live" as if they belong to God, but do worship Him as Lord of their life are just going through the motions.  Right now in our society this is quite common.  In fact, Christ said it would happen in the days before His return.  The hearts of this world are turning toward "spirituality" but are leaving Christ out of it.  They want to look like they are religious, but it is of their own doing and really has nothing to do with God.  That is why we are seeing homosexuals holding high positions in some churches. (Any sex outside of man-woman marriage is sin according to the Word of God.) They have the "appearance” of living for God, but are really living their own agenda.  God will have nothing to do with it.  If the church you are in brings in sin and states that the Word of God is wrong on this sin, run!  The Word of God cannot be amended to fit into what our society finds acceptable today.  That is what happen in Sodom and Gomorrah and look what happened to them.  It may be difficult to distinguish those who say they belong to God; from those that really do at first, but their lives will show it if they belong to Him.  Do they call upon the name of Christ and do they say that all of the Word of God is without error?  This is you clue.  Look to what His Word says and do not pick out the parts that you like and say, "I will live this part, but not this."  To be a part of Christ, He makes the rules, we don't.  The Bible has already been written and it is from God and we are not in a position to change what He has already done!Have a God Day!

¡Buenos días!2 Timoteo 1; 1-5También debes saber esto, Timoteo, que en los postreros días habrá tiempos muy difíciles. 2 Porque los hombres solo se amarán a sí mismos y a su dinero. Serán jactanciosos y orgullosos, se burlarán de Dios, serán desobedientes a sus padres e ingratos. No considerarán nada sagrado. 3 No tendrán amor ni perdonarán; calumniarán a los demás y no tendrán dominio propio; Serán crueles y no tendrán interés en lo que es bueno. 4 Traicionarán a sus amigos, serán imprudentes, se envanecerán y amarán los placeres antes que a Dios. 5 Actuarán como si fueran religiosos, pero rechazarán el poder que podría hacerlos piadosos. Debes mantenerte alejado de personas así. Santa Biblia, Nueva Traducción Viviente, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.El "acto" o apariencia de ser religioso incluye ir a la iglesia, conocer la doctrina cristiana, usar clichés cristianos y seguir las tradiciones cristianas.  Tales prácticas pueden hacer que una persona se vea bien, pero si sus actitudes internas de creencia, amor y adoración son deficientes, la apariencia externa no tiene sentido.  Jesús lo dijo dos veces en Mateo: "Quiero que seáis misericordiosos; No quiero tus sacrificios".  En otras palabras, Dios no quiere nuestras acciones externas a menos que nuestro corazón se vuelva hacia Él y estemos viviendo Su Palabra, Su manera. Aquellos que "viven" como si pertenecieran a Dios, pero lo adoran como Señor de su vida, solo están haciendo las cosas por inercia.  Ahora mismo en nuestra sociedad esto es bastante común.  De hecho, Cristo dijo que sucedería en los días antes de su regreso.  Los corazones de este mundo se están volviendo hacia la "espiritualidad", pero están dejando a Cristo fuera de ella.  Quieren parecer religiosos, pero es obra suya y en realidad no tiene nada que ver con Dios.  Es por eso que estamos viendo homosexuales ocupando altos cargos en algunas iglesias. (Cualquier sexo fuera del matrimonio hombre-mujer es pecado según la Palabra de Dios.) Tienen la "apariencia" de vivir para Dios, pero en realidad están viviendo su propia agenda.  Dios no tendrá nada que ver con eso.  Si la iglesia en la que estás trae pecado y afirma que la Palabra de Dios está equivocada en este pecado, ¡corre!  La Palabra de Dios no puede ser enmendada para encajar en lo que nuestra sociedad encuentra aceptable hoy en día.  Eso es lo que sucedió en Sodoma y Gomorra, y miren lo que les sucedió.  Puede ser difícil distinguir a los que dicen que pertenecen a Dios; de aquellos que realmente lo hacen al principio, pero sus vidas lo demostrarán si le pertenecen a Él.  ¿Invocan el nombre de Cristo y dicen que toda la Palabra de Dios no tiene error?  Esta es tu pista.  Fíjate en lo que dice Su Palabra y no escojas las partes que te gustan y digas: "Viviré esta parte, pero no esta".  Para ser parte de Cristo, Él hace las reglas, nosotros no.  ¡La Biblia ya ha sido escrita y es de Dios y no estamos en condiciones de cambiar lo que Él ya ha hecho!¡Que tengas un Día de Dios!
