Psalm 22

The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah

To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“The Deer of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David.

22 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?Why are You so far from helping Me,And from the words of My groaning?2 O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear;And in the night season, and am not silent.

3 But You are holy,Enthroned in the praises of Israel.4 Our fathers trusted in You;They trusted, and You delivered them.5 They cried to You, and were delivered;They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

6 But I am a worm, and no man;A reproach of men, and despised by the people.7 All those who see Me ridicule Me;They [b]shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,8 “He [c]trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him;Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

9 But You are He who took Me out of the womb;You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.10 I was cast upon You from birth.From My mother’s wombYou have been My God.11 Be not far from Me,For trouble is near;For there is none to help.

12 Many bulls have surrounded Me;Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.13 They [d]gape at Me with their mouths,Like a raging and roaring lion.

14 I am poured out like water,And all My bones are out of joint;My heart is like wax;It has melted [e]within Me.15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,And My tongue clings to My jaws;You have brought Me to the dust of death.

16 For dogs have surrounded Me;The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.They[f] pierced My hands and My feet;17 I can count all My bones.They look and stare at Me.18 They divide My garments among them,And for My clothing they cast lots.

19 But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me;O My Strength, hasten to help Me!20 Deliver Me from the sword,My[g] precious life from the power of the dog.21 Save Me from the lion’s mouthAnd from the horns of the wild oxen!

You have answered Me.

22 I will declare Your name to My brethren;In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.23 You who fear the Lord, praise Him!All you [h]descendants of Jacob, glorify Him,And fear Him, all you offspring of Israel!24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;Nor has He hidden His face from Him;But when He cried to Him, He heard.

25 My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.26 The poor shall eat and be satisfied;Those who seek Him will praise the Lord.Let your heart live forever!

27 All the ends of the worldShall remember and turn to the Lord,And all the families of the [i]nationsShall worship before [j]You.28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s,And He rules over the nations.

29 All the prosperous of the earthShall eat and worship;All those who go down to [k]the dustShall bow before Him,Even he who cannot keep himself alive.

30 A posterity shall serve Him.It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,That He has done this.

¡Dios mío, Dios mío!¿Por qué me has desamparado? ¿Por qué estás tan lejos de mi salvacióny de las palabras de mi clamor?2 Dios mío, clamo de día y no respondes; clamo de noche y no hay sosiego para mí.3 Pero tú eres santo.¡Tú, que habitas entre las alabanzas de Israel!4 Nuestros padres esperaron en ti: Esperaron, y tú los libraste.5 Clamaron a ti, y fueron librados; confiaron en ti, y no fuerondefraudados.6 Pero yo soy un gusano y no un hombre, objeto de la afrenta de los hombresy despreciado del pueblo.7 Todos los que me ven se burlan de mí. Estiran los labios y muevenla cabeza diciendo:8 “En el SEÑOR confió; que él lo rescate.Que lo libre, ya que de él se agradó”.9 Pero tú eres el que me sacó del vientre; me has hecho estar confiado desde que estaba a los pechos de mi madre.10 Sobre ti fui echado desde la matriz; desde el vientre de mi madretú eres mi Dios.11 No te alejes de mí,porque la angustia está cercay no hay quien ayude.12 Muchos toros me han rodeado; fuertes toros de Basán me han cercado.13 Contra mí abrieron su boca,como león voraz y rugiente.14 Soy derramado como el agua; todos mis huesos se han desarticulado. Mi corazón está como ceray se ha derretido en mediode mis entrañas.15 Mi vigor se ha secado como un tiesto,y mi lengua se ha pegado a mi paladar. Me has puesto en el polvo de la muerte.16 Los perros me han rodeado;me ha cercado una pandillade malhechores,y horadaron[b] mis manos y mis pies.17 Puedo contar todos mis huesos; ellos me miran y me observan.18 Reparten entre sí mis vestidos,y sobre mi ropa echan suertes.19 Pero tú, oh SEÑOR, no te alejes. Fortaleza mía, apresúrate para ayudarme.20 Libra mi alma de la espada;libra mi única vida de las garrasde los perros.21 Sálvame de la boca del leóny de los cuernos de los toros salvajes.¡Me has respondido!22 Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos;en medio de la congregación te alabaré.23 Los que temen al SEÑOR, alábenle; glorifíquenle todos los descendientes de Jacob.Teman ustedes, todos los descendientes de Israel.24 Porque no despreció ni desdeñó la aflicción del afligidoni de él escondió el rostro.Más bien, le oyó cuando clamó a él.25 Tuya es mi alabanza en la gran congregación.Mis votos pagaré delante de los que le temen.26 Los pobres comerán y serán saciados. Alabarán al SEÑOR los que le buscan. ¡Que viva su corazón para siempre!27 Ellos se acordarán y volverán al SEÑOR de todos los confines de la tierra. Delante de ti se postrarántodas las familias de las naciones.28 Porque del SEÑOR es el reino,y él se enseñoreará de las naciones.29 Ciertamente ante él[c] se postrarántodos los ricos de la tierra.Se doblegarán ante él todos los que descienden al polvo,los que no pueden conservar la vida a su propia alma.30 La posteridad le servirá;esto le será referido al SEÑOR por generaciones.31 Vendrán y anunciarán su justiciaa un pueblo que ha de nacer: “¡Él hizo esto!”.
