Isaiah 19-20

19 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the Lord of hosts.

5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.

7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.

10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.

11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the Lord of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

14 The Lord hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the Lord of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

19 In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the Lord.

20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

21 And the Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the Lord, and perform it.

22 And the Lord shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the Lord, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.

23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.

24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

25 Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

20 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

2 At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 And the Lord said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

19 Profecía acerca de Egipto: He aquí, el SEÑOR cabalga sobre una nube veloz y entra en Egipto. Los ídolos de Egipto se estremecen ante su presencia, y el corazón de los egipcios desfallece dentro de ellos. 2 “Yo incitaré a los egipcios contra los egipcios. Cada uno peleará contra su hermano, cada uno contra su prójimo, ciudad contra ciudad y reino contra reino. 3 El espíritu de Egipto se trastornará dentro de sí, y confundiré sus planes. Preguntarán a los ídolos, a los espíritus de los muertos, a los que evocan a los muertos y a los adivinos. 4 Entregaré a Egipto en mano de un amo déspota, y un rey cruel se enseñoreará de ellos”, dice el SEÑOR Diosb de los Ejércitos.

5 Las aguas del mar menguarán, y el río se agotará y se secará. 6 Los canales apestarán; los brazos del Nilo de Egipto se reducirán y se secarán. Los cañaverales y los juncales se marchitarán. 7 Los arbustos junto al Nilo, junto a la ribera del Nilo, y todos los sembrados del Nilo se secarán; serán arrebatados y desaparecerán. 8 Los pescadores lamentarán, y harán duelo todos los que echan anzuelo en el Nilo. Desfallecerán los que extienden la red sobre las aguas. 9 Serán confundidos los que trabajan el lino, y los que tejen lino cardado palidecerán[a]. 10 Estarán abatidos los tejedores, y todos los jornaleros serán entristecidos.

11 Ciertamente son necios los magistrados de Tanis. Los sabios del faraón han dado un consejo desatinado. ¿Cómo dirán al faraón: “Yo soy hijo de sabios e hijo de reyes antiguos”? 12 ¿Dónde, pues, están tus sabios? Que te digan, y que te hagan saber qué es lo que el SEÑOR de los Ejércitos ha decidido acerca de Egipto. 13 Los magistrados de Tanis han actuado neciamente; se han engañado los magistrados de Menfis. Han hecho errar a Egipto aquellos que son las piedras angulares de sus tribus. 14 El SEÑOR ha mezclado en medio de él espíritu de vértigo, e hicieron errar a Egipto en toda su obra, como se tambalea el borracho en su vómito. 15 No le servirá a Egipto nada de lo que haga la cabeza y la cola, la palmera y el junco.

16 En aquel día los egipcios serán como mujeres, pues temblarán y temerán ante el movimiento de la mano del SEÑOR de los Ejércitos, que él moverá contra ellos. 17 La tierra de Judá será un terror para Egipto. Todo hombre a quien se le mencione acerca de ella, se asustará a causa de la decisión que ha tomado el SEÑOR de los Ejércitos contra él.

18 En aquel día habrá cinco ciudades en la tierra de Egipto que hablarán la lengua de Canaán, y jurarán lealtad al SEÑOR de los Ejércitos. Una de ellas será llamada Ciudad del Sol.

19 En aquel día habrá un altar del SEÑOR en medio de la tierra de Egipto, y un obelisco dedicado al SEÑOR junto a su frontera. 20 Servirá de señal y de testimonio al SEÑOR de los Ejércitos en la tierra de Egipto. Cuando clamen al SEÑOR a causa de sus opresores, él les enviará un salvador quien los defenderá y los librará. 21 El SEÑOR se dará a conocer a Egipto, y en aquel día los egipcios conocerán al SEÑOR. Presentarán sacrificios y ofrendas vegetales; harán votos al SEÑOR y los cumplirán. 22 El SEÑOR herirá a Egipto, pero lo herirá y lo sanará. Se convertirán al SEÑOR, quien atenderá a sus súplicas y los sanará.

23 En aquel día habrá un amplio camino desde Egipto hasta Asiria; los asirios entrarán en Egipto, y los egipcios en Asiria. Entonces los egipcios y los asirios servirán al SEÑOR.

24 En aquel día Israel será tercero con Egipto y con Asiria, una bendición en medio de la tierra. 25 Porque el SEÑOR de los Ejércitos los bendecirá diciendo: “¡Benditos sean Egipto mi pueblo, Asiria obra de mis manos e Israel mi heredad!”.

20 En el año en que vino el Tartána a Asdod, cuando Sargón rey de Asiria lo envió para combatir contra Asdod y la tomó, 2 en aquel tiempo el SEÑOR habló por medio de Isaías hijo de Amoz, diciendo: “Ve, despójate del cilicio de sobre tus lomos y quita el calzado de tus pies”. Así lo hizo, y andaba desnudo y descalzo.

3 Entonces dijo el SEÑOR: “Así como mi siervo Isaías anduvo desnudo y descalzo tres años como señal y prodigio contra Egipto y Etiopía, 4 así conducirá el rey de Asiria a los cautivos de Egipto y a los desterrados de Etiopía: jóvenes y viejos, desnudos y descalzos, con los glúteos descubiertos, para vergüenza de Egipto. 5 Tendrán terror y se avergonzarán de Etiopía, objeto de su esperanza, y de Egipto, su gloria. 6 En aquel día dirá el habitante de esta costa: ‘¡Miren lo que ha pasado con el objeto de nuestra esperanza, al cual huimos para obtener auxilio y para ser librados de la presencia del rey de Asiria! ¿Y cómo escaparemos nosotros?’ ”.
