Good Morning!
John 15:1-8
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch that doesn't produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned for greater fruitfulness by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful apart from me. 5 "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who parts from me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted! 8 My true disciples produce much fruit. This brings great glory to my Father.

These disciples had Jewish concepts and their thought patterns had been governed by the Old Testament. He is telling them now that the nation Israel is not the genuine vine. Their identification with the Jewish nation and the Jewish religion is not the essential thing. "I am the genuine vine." The important thing now is for the disciples to be related to Jesus Christ. That was revolutionary! Our Lord used a marvelous figure of speech, and He made it very clear that it is not your identification with a religion or a ceremony or an organization that is essential. We are to be identified with Christ! We are in Christ by the baptism of the Holy Spirit the moment we trust Christ as our Savior and are born again as a child of God.

Porque un pámpano no puede dar fruto si se separa de la vid, y vosotros no podéis fructificar sin mí. 5 "Sí, yo soy la vid; Ustedes son las ramas. Los que permanezcan en mí, y yo en ellos, producirán mucho fruto. Porque separados de mí no podéis hacer nada. 6 Todo el que se aparta de mí es arrojado como una rama inútil y se seca. Tales ramas se juntan en una pila para ser quemadas. 7 Pero si permaneces unido a mí y mis palabras permanecen en ti, puedes pedir lo que quieras, y se te concederá. 8 Mis verdaderos discípulos producen mucho fruto. discípulos tenían conceptos judíos y sus patrones de pensamiento habían sido gobernados por el Antiguo Testamento. Él les está diciendo ahora que la nación de Israel no es la vid genuina. Su identificación con la nación judía y la religión judía no es lo esencial. "Yo soy la vid genuina". Lo importante ahora es que los discípulos se relacionen con Jesucristo. ¡Eso fue revolucionario!
