IT PAYS TO SERVE GOD
Matthew 5:10 (NKJV) Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
We have all lived long enough to know that whatever we do, we will be criticized. Even if you do not do anything, you will be criticized and persecuted. I do not know about you, but I would rather be criticized for doing the right thing, than for doing the wrong thing. I would rather be called a fool for following God, than be called a wise man for following the devil. Remember that people will persecute you, but God will always justify you.
Peter gives us a great portion of scripture to prepare us for this. In 1 Peter 4:12-19 he says, “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now ‘If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?’ 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.”
Being a true follower of Jesus comes with a cost, though really it does not cost to serve God, it pays. When we make a decision to do it all for Jesus, the blessings are beyond this world! Our main verse today says that ours will be the kingdom of heaven. I think of Paul and Silas. They were thrown into a prison for casting out a demon, and look what God did for them in Acts 16:16-34. He opened the prison doors and got the jailer and his household saved!
So today, remember that it pays to serve God, and it pays amazingly! God blesses those who stand up for His ways. To the world we might look weak and powerless, but to God we are the image of His dear Son, Jesus!
Confession: Today, I declare that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and even through persecution, I come out the winner!
! VALE LA PENA SERVIR A DIOS
Mateo 5:10 Bienaventurados los perseguidos por causa de la justicia, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos.
Todos hemos vivido lo suficiente como para saber que, hagamos lo que hagamos, seremos criticados. Incluso si no haces nada, serás criticado y perseguido. No sé ustedes, pero yo preferiría que me critiquen por hacer lo correcto, que por hacer lo incorrecto. Preferiría que me llamaran tonto por seguir a Dios, que que me llamaran sabio por seguir al diablo. Recuerda que la gente te perseguirá, pero Dios siempre te justificará.
Pedro nos da una gran porción de las Escrituras para prepararnos para esto. En 1 Pedro 4:12-19 él dice: "Amados, no os extrañéis de la prueba de fuego que os ha de probar, como si os sucediera alguna cosa extraña; 13 sino regocijaos en cuanto participéis de los padecimientos de Cristo, para que cuando se manifieste su gloria, también os alegréis con gran gozo. 14 Si sois vituperados por el nombre de Cristo, bienaventurados seréis, porque el Espíritu de gloria y de Dios reposa sobre vosotros. Por su parte, Él es blasfemado, pero por tu parte, Él es glorificado. 15 Pero que ninguno de ustedes padezca como un homicida, un ladrón, un malhechor o como un entrometido en los asuntos de los demás. 16 Sin embargo, si alguno sufre por ser cristiano, que no se avergüence, sino que glorifique a Dios en este asunto. 17 Porque ha llegado el tiempo de que el juicio comience en la casa de Dios; y si comienza primero por nosotros, ¿cuál será el fin de los que no obedecen el evangelio de Dios? 18 Y si el justo apenas se salva, ¿dónde aparecerán el impío y el pecador? 19 Por tanto, los que padecen conforme a la voluntad de Dios, encomenden su alma a él para hacer el bien, como a un Creador fiel.
Ser un verdadero seguidor de Jesús tiene un costo, aunque en realidad no cuesta servir a Dios, sino que paga. Cuando tomamos la decisión de hacerlo todo por Jesús, ¡las bendiciones están más allá de este mundo! Nuestro versículo principal de hoy dice que nuestro será el reino de los cielos. Pienso en Pablo y en Silas. Fueron arrojados a una cárcel por expulsar a un demonio, y miren lo que Dios hizo por ellos en Hechos 16:16-34. ¡Abrió las puertas de la prisión y salvó al carcelero y a su familia!
Así que hoy, recuerde que vale la pena servir a Dios, ¡y paga increíblemente! Dios bendice a aquellos que defienden Sus caminos. Para el mundo podemos parecer débiles e impotentes, pero para Dios somos la imagen de Su amado Hijo, Jesús.
Confesión: Hoy, declaro que soy un seguidor de Jesucristo, e incluso a través de la persecución, ¡salgo ganador!
